Copolymer polypropylene, what is it and what is it used for?

A copolymer is a polymer formed when two (or more) different types of monomer are linked in the same polymer chain, as opposed to a homopolymer where only one monomer is used.

Copolymers may be made from two, three, or even more subunits that come together in different formations, such as a random copolymer, an alternating copolymer, or a block copolymer.

The process in which a copolymer is formed from multiple species of monomers is known as copolymerization. It is often used to improve or modify certain properties of plastics.

Copolymers are used for making a variety of materials with industrial, pharmaceutical, and every day use. A few examples of the uses of copolymers include plastic pipes, insulation for electrical wiring, synthetic clothing, medical non-latex gloves, hard plastics, soft plastics, and rubber bands.
