Introduction for SABIC LLDPE 318BJ
2024-10-24

1. SABIC 318WJ LLDPE introduction
318BJ is a butene (C-4) copolymer linear low-density polyethylene resin (LLDPE material) produced by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). It offers excellent tensile strength, puncture resistance, superior optical properties, and high-temperature resistance, making it commonly used in the production of films for non-medical applications.
Sabic 318BJ LLDPE material has a melt flow index (MFI or MVR) of 3g/10min under the ASTM D1238 test standard at 190°C and 2.16kg load. It is therefore designated as 318BJ LLDPE.

2. Differences Between SABIC 318BJ and Other LLDPE Grades
- Enhanced high-temperature resistance, offering superior performance compared to other LLDPEs in the same class. SABIC 318BJ exhibits a Vicat softening temperature of 102°C, surpassing both SABIC 218WJ LLDPE (98°C) and SABIC 218BJ LLDPE (96°C). This makes it suitable for high-temperature applications or processing environments, such as cast film production and food applications requiring high-temperature sterilization.
- Specifically for film production,SABIC 318BJ LLDPE is specifically engineered for film production, offering excellent tensile properties and puncture resistance. It achieves a tensile strain at break of 710%, a dart impact rating of 2.6 kJ/m, and a protrusion puncture resistance of 2.0 J.
- Food-grade cling film is permissible. Sabic 318BJ LLDPE material is free from tri(nonylphenyl) phosphite (TNPP) antioxidants and is suitable for producing LLDPE films in regions with stringent standards such as the EU. This material may also be used for manufacturing food contact films, including cling film.
3. Applications of SABIC 318BJ
Sabic 318BJ LLDPE is particularly suitable for producing hand-stretched and machine-stretched films, food preservation films, printed films, and other general-purpose applications due to its excellent high-temperature resistance, tensile properties, and processability.
