Elix INEOS Terlux 2812 MABS Description
Elix INEOS Terlux 2812 is a compound produced by Elix-polymer in Spain through the polymerization of methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile -butadiene-styrene polymer produced by Elix-polymer in Spain. Also known as “MABS material,” it is often referred to as “transparent ABS” due to its excellent transparency. The material offers good impact resistance, meets the requirements for medical device manufacturing, and is commonly used to produce transparent housings for small appliances.
⚠️Elix Terlux 2812 MABS is manufactured by Elix-polymer on behalf of INEOS Styrolution. It is produced in Spain using the same technology as that employed at BASF’s plant in Germany, and the products are virtually identical.
Elix INEOS Terlux 2812 MABS Advantage
- Better machinability, The melt volume rate (MVR) of Terlux 2812 transparent ABS at 220°C and 10 kg is 8 cm³/10 min, which is significantly higher than that of the Terlux 2802 MABS material in the same series. This higher flow rate makes it more suitable for the production of thin-walled and complex products, particularly equipment housings with a thickness of 1.5 mm or less.
- Transparent ABS. Terlux 2812 MABS material, due to the incorporation of methyl methacrylate during processing, offers excellent transparency compared to traditional ABS materials, with a refractive index of 1.540—which is very close to that of PMMA. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring a highly transparent appearance, such as coffee machine water tanks.
- Good impact resistance. Terlux 2812 MABS offers impact resistance comparable to that of traditional ABS, with a Charpy unnotched impact strength of 110 kJ/m². Even at extreme low temperatures of -30°C, it maintains an impact strength of 70 kJ/m², making it suitable for the production of impact-resistant children’s toys and transparent appliance housings.
