Sabic Lexan 940A-116 PC Description
Lexan 940A is a flame retardant polycarbonate (FR PC) manufactured by Saudi Basic Industrial Company. It meets the UL 94 V-0 flame-retardant rating and is available in transparent and translucent colors for use in electronic and electrical components.

Lexan 940A PC resin is manufactured in multiple locations; the product we supply is sourced from Sabic Innovation (Nansha). Standard colors include Lexan 940A-116 (transparent with a blue tint) and Lexan 940A-701 (opaque high-gloss black).

Sabic Lexan 940A-116 PC Advantage
- Flame retardant PC, Sabic Lexan 910A PC uses a bromined flame retardant system and achieves UL94 V-0 flame-retardant rating at a test thickness of 3.0 mm, making it suitable for the production of thin-walled injection-molded parts that require high performance flame retardancy.
- High transparent. Standard FR PC is only available in opaque grades, but Sabic 940A FR PC offers high transparency, At a test thickness of 2.54 mm, light transmission reaches 85% and the refractive index is 1.586, which essentially matches the transparency properties of standard polycarbonate, making it suitable for applications requiring high clarity.
- Balanced mechanical properties. Sabic 940A FR PC is not only flame-retardant but also has excellent mechanical properties. The Izod unnotched impact strength at 23°C is 3204 J/m, and the flexural modulus is 2240 MPa. Its high impact resistance makes it suitable for use in the manufacture of home appliance housings, automotive parts, and mechanical components.
- Good machinability. Sabic 940A FR PC has a melt flow rate (MFR) of 10 g/10 min under test conditions of 300°C and 1.2 kg, making it suitable for injection molding. Additionally, this material contains a release agent, which facilitates the production of thin-walled and complex parts.
