 Covestro Makrolon 6557 FR PC Description 

Makrolon 6557 is flame-retardant polycarbonate (FR PC) material manufactured by Covestro AG. It achieves UL 94 V0 flame retardancy at a thickness of 3 mm, has moderate flow properties and contains mold release agent, is easy to process. Makorolon 6557 FR PC contains UV-resistant additives and can be used to manufacture products intended for long-term outdoor use.

Covestro Makrolon 6557 FR PC Advantage

  • Flame retardant PC, Covestro 6557 FR PC utilizes a potassium perfluorobutylsulfate (PPFBS) flame-retardant system, which provides the material with highly effective flame-retardant properties (UL 94 V0 @ 3.0mm thickness), while remaining halogen-free. It is a halogen free FR PC suitable for use in regions with stringent environmental regulations, such as Europe and the United States.
  • UV resistant PC material. Compared to Makrolon 6555, Makrolon 6557 FR PC contains UV-stabilizing additives, allowing products made from it to be used outdoors for extended periods without significant performance degradation.
  • Good machinability, Makrolon 6557 halogen-free, flame-retardant PC resin has a melt volume rate (MVR) of 10 g/10 min under test conditions of 300°C and 1.2 kg. With moderate flow rate and viscosity, In addition, this material contains a release agent, making it easier to process than Makrolon 6555 FR PC.
