LG TR557 Transparent ABS Description

TR557 is a transparent ABS material produced by LG Chem. It is a transparent plastic material formed by polymerizing methyl methacrylate (PMMA) with acrylonitrile -butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymerization. It combines the high transparency of methyl methacrylate with the impact resistance and flexibility of ABS. Featuring a melt flow index of 23g/10min (MFI or MVR), it is commonly used in manufacturing products requiring high aesthetic properties and impact resistance.

LG TR557 Transparent ABS Advantage

High transparent. Compared to conventional ABS materials, the most distinctive feature of LG TR557 MABS is its transparency. Under the ASTM 1003 testing standard, its haze level is only 1.5%, while its light transmittance reaches 90% in a 3.2mm test environment. Possessing exceptional transparency, it is commonly used to replace PC and PMMA materials in the production of consumer goods requiring high aesthetic properties and transparency.
High safety performance. Among highly transparent plastic materials, polycarbonateis rarely used in applications involving contact with children or in household appliances intended for food contact, as it contains bisphenol A during the manufacturing process; In contrast, the transparent ABS TR557 does not contain these additives, making it more suitable for applications requiring high transparency, such as children’s toys, juicers, and coffee makers. LG TR557 MABS has been certified to the NSF/ANSI 51 food contact material safety standard and can be safely used in food contact applications.
Excellent mechanical properties, LG TR557 MABS material exhibits excellent impact resistance. At 3.2mm thickness, with an Izod impact strength of 170 J/m at 32°C. Even in extreme environments of -30°C, it achieves 55 J/m. Its flexural strength is 77 MPa, and flexural modulus is 2300 MPa. This material is suitable for applications demanding high impact resistance and flexibility, such as appliance housings and charging equipment enclosures.
